Dise NoBorders in Portal

This first guide is a step-by-step on how you can setup Dise NoBorders using Premium players and the Dise CX Portal.

Create a DISE NoBorders screen definition

To be able to create a multiscreen DISE Movie you need to have what is known as a screen definition. Here we’re going to create a new screen definition with 3 Full HD (1920x1080) screens. In this example we want to have a 100 pixel distance between each screen to compensate for screen bezel.

It is going to look something like this:

  1. In Composer, create a new DISE Movie.
  2. Go to the Movie tab and click Movie properties.
  3. Click the Change button.
  4. Under Horizontal resolution type in 5960.
  5. Under Vertical resolution type in 1080.
  6. Click the Add button to add a screen to the screen definition.
  7. Call the new screen "Screen 1".
  8. Under Dimensions, type in values X=0, Y=0, Width=1920, Height=1080.
  9. Click Ok.
  10. Click the Add button to add a second screen to the screen definition.
  11. Call the new screen "Screen 2".
  12. Under Dimensions, type in values X=2020, Y=0, Width=1920, Height=1080.
  13. This means that we offset the x position of the screens 100 pixels to the right of the "Screen 1" screen.
  14. Click Ok.
  15. Click the Add button to add a third screen to the screen definition.
  16. Call the new screen "Screen 3".
  17. Under Dimensions, type in values X=4040, Y=0, Width=1920, Height=1080.
  18. Click Ok.
  19. Now we have 3 screens and a canvas. Click the Save as preset button and give your screen definition the name
    "3x FullHD".
  20. Next click Ok.

You can now create a DISE Movie using this screen definition and upload it to CX Portal.

Set screen definition in CX Portal (Super admins only)

With the screen definition created we can proceed to set up players from the portal.

  1. Go to System > Screen Definitions.
  2. You can drag and drop a screen definition to automatically import it in Portal.
Drag the "3x FullHD.screendef" file from "C:\DISEContent\System\Screen definitions" to the open area in Screen definitions. Note that a new item called "3x FullHD" will be created.

Create layout

After a screen definition has been created, we need to create a new layout which will hold all NoBorders content.

  1. Go to Layouts and click New layout to create. Make sure to select your new screen definition in the bottom dropdown.

  2. Click Save.
  3. After the layout has been created we can add playlists to it. Note: these playlists need to contain only content created using the correct screen definition in Composer!
Please see this page for information on adding playlists to layouts: Create a layout

Set layout and screen

  1. Go to a player and click Edit. You are able to select the Layout option and choose your newly created layout.

  2. Click Save.
  3. Once you have done this, click the Tools icon in the top right corner in a player, select Settings > NoBorders.
Here you can select from the different screens you have created in Composer.

Set synchronization

Next step is to setup synchronization.
Appoint one player as the master. The rest are slaves.

  1. Go into the master player in the CMS and click Tools > Settings.
  2. Click the New setting button and create the following 3 custom settings:
    • Name: syncmode
      Value: master
      Type: string
    • Name: multicastIP
      Value: 224.1.1.100
      Type: string
    • Name: multicastport
      Value: 4000
      Type: int
  3. Do the same for the other players, but with a syncmode = slave.
  4. Publish all players.

Dise Bridge (Old software)

This method is for solutions that have been previously set up using DISE Bridge / DISE Professional.

Create a NoBorders destination

  1. In DISE Bridge, click the Add > Add new destination button.
  2. In the General tab, type in a name and set the details for the FTP server.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Check Use screen definition… and click Browse to select a screen definition (a .screendef file, normally located in "C:\DISEContent\System\Screen definitions")
  5. Go to the Players tab.
  6. You need to create a player for each screen. Make sure to select a screen from the screen definition below.
  7. Add the DISE Movie(s) in the top level of the destination (normally in the “Channel Main”)
  8. Send the destination to the FTP.
You may have an error the first time you send, please ignore and send again.

Register the destination

  1. In DISE Bridge, make sure that we are connected to the relevant DISE Server network:
  2. Go to File > Options > Project properties and select the DISE Server tab. Enter the details and click Ok. You are asked to authenticate with DISE Server.
  3. Select the previously created destination and go to the Tools tab.
  4. Click the Register in DISE Server button.

Set destination for players

  1. Go into the player in the CMS, click Edit and select the Layout option.
  2. Select the destination as created in DISE Bridge, and click Save.

Set a displayscheme

You have defined different "players" in Bridge, meaning that they can play different playlists. What this does is to create separate .displayscheme files.
To set a displayscheme for a player, please

  1. Go into the player in the CMS and click the Tools icon, then select Settings.
  2. Click the New setting button and type in the following for name, value and type:
    • Name: displayscheme
      Value: name-as-defined-in-bridge.displayscheme (for example Top.displayscheme)
      Type: string
  3. Click Save

Set synchronization
