A very useful method is to do a complete installation with the proper settings and preparations done, and then to create an image for cloning to other players.
Please note that you can't use Windows own System image tools for this, as it will not work with other hardware than the one it was created from.
Our recommendation is to use CloneZilla Live (http://clonezilla.org). Below instructions are based on this software.
Create a Live USB
Use Tuxboot (http://tuxboot.org) to create the Live USB stick.
Preparations and installation
Remember to NOT reboot the player when you are asked, but to instead turn it off.
Create system image
- Make sure to have a sufficiently large USB storage device to store the system image.
- Create a folder on the storage device and call it for example "clonezilla" or "my_image".
- Use Tuxboot (see above) to create your live USB
- Insert the Clonezilla Live USB in the player PC and boot from it.
If it instead starts booting into Windows, restart before it has time to log in (and started Premium). - Select Clonezilla live from the menu.
- Select English.
- Select Don't touch keymap.
- Select Start Clonezilla.
- Select device-image.
- Select local_dev.
- The system tells you to insert a USB device. Connect your storage device and press Enter key.
- You will see the device in the list. Take a note of which device name it has got, for example "/dev/sdc".
- Press Ctrl+C.
- In the list, select the partition to store the system image on, for example "sdc1".
- Select the "clonezilla" directory.
- Use the arrow keys and select Done and press Enter.
- Select Beginner.
- Select savedisk.
- Type in a name to use or use the suggested name.
- Select the local disk to image (typically "sda")
- Select -sfsck
- Select Yes, check the saved image.
- Select -senc.
- Select -p poweroff.
- Press Enter again to start.
- When asked, press y and then Enter.
- Sit back and have a cup of coffee, or tea, or hot chocolate if you are feeling fancy.
Clone from system image
You now have all you need to reverse this process on other PCs.
- Insert the Clonezilla Live USB in the PC and boot from it.
- Select Clonezilla live from the menu.
- Select English.
- Select Don't touch keymap.
- Select Start Clonezilla,
- Select device-image.
- Select local_dev.
- The system tells you to insert a USB device. Connect your storage device and press Enter key.
- You will see the device in the list. Take a note of which device name it has got, for example "/dev/sdc".
- Press Ctrl+C.
- In the list, select the partition to find the system image on, for example "sdc1".
- Select the "clonezilla" directory.
- Use the arrow keys and select Done and press Enter.
- Select Beginner.
- Select restoredisk.
- Select the image file to clone from.
- Select the disk to clone to.
- Select -scr.
- Select -p poweroff.
- Press Enter to continue.
- When asked, press y and Enter.
- The clone process will be underway.
- Once shutdown, remove the live USB and the USB storage and start it up.
Windows should start, login automatically and Premium will start and retrieve a unique discovery code.
Remember that regardless if you activated Windows before you cloned the drive, you have to reactivate all cloned instances.
