Create a Template

This example shows how to create an editable text field for a text object, the same steps can be used for other objects including Image, Video and Web page objects.

  1. Open the CX Composer.
  2. Create a new Dise Movie by selecting a canvas size.
  3. Click on the 'Movie' tab in the top menu:
  4. Click on the 'Edit variables' button:
  5. Add a new variable:
  6. Enter a name, the variable type and a default value if required:
    There is a few different variable types to choose from
    • Image file - Can be connected to the image object
    • Object Alpha - Can be connected to most objects
    • Object Color - Can be connected to an object with color properties (Shapes & Text)
    • Object Position - Can be connected to most objects
    • Object visible - Can be connected to most objects
    • Text - Can be connected to the text, paragraph, Web page and ticker objects
    • Video file - Can be connected to the video object
  7. Check the 'Export as template field' box.
  8. Click on the 'OK' button to create variable.
  9. Choose the text object and drag and drop it to the scene to add it.
  10. Right click on the text object and choose 'Connect property...' and then choose the correct type, in this case it is 'Text/filename'.
  11. Choose the variable previously created from the drop down menu.
  12. Click 'OK'.
  13. The variable is now connected to the text object. If a value was chosen for the variable, the text object should display that value. If no value was chosen, the text object will not display anything until uploaded and modified in the CX portal.
  14. When complete, save the movie.
  15. Click on the 'Home' tab in the top menu then 'Upload to Dise CX Portal':

The template will upload directly to the CX portal under 'Templates'templates_menu

Do not click the 'Convert to template movie' button
This is a legacy feature used for older Dise products.
