Placeholders

Placeholders can be used to allow restricted, location level users the ability to manage a fixed playlist within a channel or scenario. Placeholders are controlled by an admin on a higher level than the placeholder
Create a Placeholder
- Navigate to 'Channels' in the left menu: 🔎︎
- Select a channel.
- Click the 3 dots in the 'Playlists' banner or in a scenario.
- Click 'Add placeholder': 🔎︎
- Click 'Create'.
- Add a name for the placeholder. The auto-generated placeholder playlist will have this name.
- Select the location level the placeholder playlist can be accessed from.
- Select the orientation.
- Click 'Create'.
Add a Placeholder
- Select a channel.
- Click the 3 dots in the 'Playlists' banner or in a scenario.
- Click 'Add placeholder': 🔎︎
- Select one or more placeholders from the list.
- Click 'Add'.
- Click 'Save and publish'.
View a Placeholder
Viewing a placeholder as an admin is different to viewing it as a location level user:
Admin
Admin users can only view a placeholder within the channel view:
Act As
Admin users can act as a location level user to view the auto-generated playlist.
- Navigate to the location that the placeholder is assigned.
- Click the 3 dots and select 'Act As':
4. A temporary role will be created, the portal will now only show content that's available to the selected location:🔎︎
5. Navigate to 'Playlists' in the left menu: 🔎︎
6. Select the auto-generated playlist.
7. To exit, click X and the portal will return to normal.
Location Level User
Location level users will see an auto-generated playlist. The playlist name also includes the location level of the placeholder:
- Navigate to 'Playlists' in the left menu: 🔎︎
- Select the auto-generated placeholder playlist:
3. Edit playlist.
4. Click 'Save and publish'.
- Display 01 is connected to site 'Dise Karlstad'.
- Display 02 is connected to site 'Dise Lund'.
The same placeholder will generate two site level placeholder playlists, one for site 'Dise Karlstad' and one for site 'Dise Lund'.
- Display 01 will play content from the 'Window' playlist and the 'Dise Karlstad' placeholder playlist.
- Display 02 will play content from the 'Window' playlist and the 'Dise Lund' placeholder playlist.
