Sound Object


Article summary

The Sound objectcan be used to add MP3 files.

In the Objects tab, double-click on the sound icon, click it and drag into the edit area. This will take you the the sound properties window.


General

General settings tab: 🔎︎

  • Media source - Filename of the music file. This can also be a URL to a stream, either in MMS or in HTTP form.
  • Playback
    • Control buttons - Normal sound playback controls for the preview
    • Start / stop position - When a sound is loaded, its length will be represented by a blue color filling the horizontal field. To cut a sound, move the handle (or enter it in the numeric field) to where to insert a start or stop position, then click the 'Set' button.

Options

Options tab:🔎︎

  • Media format - Settings for what media format will be selected and special options for that format. Normally the format is auto-detected but can be overridden with the Override auto-detected media format check-box and select the desired format from the drop-down Media Format box.
  • Audio options- Select the sound card to output the audio on and the output volume and panning. Enable or disable audio by using the checkbox in the Playback Options section.
    • Multi-screen auto volume mode can be used to automatically change the volume depending on how far away the object is in relation to the output screen. Tick the Adjust balance checkbox, to pan (left/right) the audio depending on the horizontal position. Min and max distance can alter the range of where the volume will be silent to where it will be in full strength.
  • Playback options
    • Continue play in background - Enables sound to play after the sound object has ended. The audio will be muted but the playback is not stopped.
    • Use network sync - Disable to use a synchronized network media clock.
