Media Format Guidelines

These guidelines are recommendations to achieve the best performance from a media player. 

These are general recommendations and not limitations. Performance isn't guaranteed and limitations will depend on the devices specification, please refer to manufacturer documentation.

Video

  • MPEG-4 H.264/AVC (.mp4)
  • WebM VP9 (.webm)
  • Frame rate: 30 fps
  • Bitrate (constant): 10 Mbps (75/Mb/minute)
  • Maximum bitrate (constant): 20 Mbps (150Mb/minute)
  • Profile: H.264 baseline profile video and AAC low-complexity profile audio.

Image

  • JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
  • PNG (.png)
  • WebP (.webp)
  • Maximum resolution: 4K - 3840x2160 or 2160x3840
  • Color options: 24-bit RGB or 32-bit RGBA

Device Limitations

Samsung

4K video is currently unsupported on Samsung SoC due to manufacturer video decoder limitations.

BrightSign

A log in may be required to access the manufacturer site. Please contact the relevant manufacturer for access or further information.

Sony and Philips Android

  • Transitions between content is not always fully gapless. This is caused when there is low hardware performance resource available.
  • UHD content requires more hardware performance resource meaning video frame rate and general playout performance can be impacted.
