Understand the Timeline

General

The bottom timeline panel can be used to edit the timing of objects visibility and gives an overview of object placement. The objects in the selected scene are listed to the left, and their timing values are represented as colored bars to the right.

Selecting Objects

The objects in the scene are listed to the left, and their timing values are represented as colored bars to the right. The object name pane can be clicked and dragged to a preferred size:

A locked object cannot be selected in the edit area but can be selected in the timeline.

Modify Playback Settings in the Timeline

  • Change the object topmost arrangement by moving the objects up or down in the timeline. Select the up or down arrows to move the selected object(s):TimelineMoveUpDown.png🔎︎
  • The eye icon can be used to make the selected object invisible:m2HjDJBhGoKIVTX3Sx9hMGaXJQTgINdz8A.png🔎︎
  • Drag the start and end of an object to change the duration. Drag the entire object in the timeline to change when it starts or ends: 🔎︎
  • The start and end time of the selected object is displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the main window. The time is shown in minutes.seconds.milliseconds:🔎︎
  • Select several objects at the same time by holding the CTRL key when selecting the objects. When changing timings in the timeline, all timings of the selected objects will change.
  • Drag the in- and out fade handles of the selected object to change when the fading starts and ends:🔎︎
  • Objects can be time locked so the start and end times can't be changed. Time locked objects are indicated with a "jagged" edge in the timeline and can be unlocked from the 'Object Properties' menu:🔎︎  

Modify the Timeline

  • The timescale of the timeline can be changed with timeline slider: 🔎︎
  • Some objects can contain other objects or have transitions. This is indicated with a black triangle next to the object name and can be expanded to show the nested objects, including timings and editing options:🔎︎
